Air Conditioning

It is important that our air conditioning systems keep us cool efficiently. Quality products, superior service, expert advice, and special attention assure excellent home comfort. With over 26 years of service meeting the air conditioning needs in the Memphis and surrounding areas, Mark understands how important comfortable cool air is to Mid-Southerners. Mark has identified four primary factors that effect your heating utility costs.

    1. Properly functioning systems: Global Central Air Services’ 15 point inspection assures your HVAC unit is operating at maximum efficiency making sure all fittings and valves are functioning properly and are not leaking gases that could be of risk to you, your family or your energy bill.
    2. Clean filters: Dirty filters, duct work and HVAC system restrict air flow and spread contaminants throughout your home. Dirty air filters that restrict the flow of hot air from the heating unit decrease the amount and temperature of air warming your home. This requires the heating unit to run longer resulting in higher energy costs.
    3. Humidity control: High humidity plagues the South, making temperatures seem more extreme. Humidity inversely effects the comfort of your home. A room at 75 degrees at lower humidity will feel as comfortable as 72 degrees at a higher humidity. By controlling the humidity in your home your can reduce the demand on your heating system during the winter months. Why should I choose a whole-home dehumidifier for my home?
    4. Quality Equipment: Proper equipment selections assures that your heating system will work at maximum efficiency without exceeding the units demand capabilities.

Packaged Units

Package units are a self-contained pre-assembled heating and air conditioning unit. Package units usually can cool and / or heat an entire home or building. Typically located outside the home on the ground or on the roof package units are often used when space inside the home is not available.

If you have identified your system as a “Package” unit, but you are not sure if it is gas or a heat pump - one of the easiest ways to identify a heat pump is to look at your thermostat. If you have a “back up” or “secondary” heat switch, it’s a good chance that your system is a heat pump.

Humidity control

Dehumidification

The Humiditrol® dehumidification system works with a two-stage air conditioner and ComfortSense™ Touchscreen Thermostat* to help reduce moisture levels in the home, decreasing the potential for mold and mildew problems.

Humidification

Humidifiers help regulate humidity by working with "forced-air" applications (furnaces or air handlers) to add moisture in the circulating conditioned air.

Comfort Control

Thermostats monitor existing humidity levels and allows you to adjust humidity settings to your specific needs.

Air Handlers

All central heat and air conditioning systems need an air handler or way to handle air. It is essential to any heating or air conditioning unit to force air through the system. The air handler usually houses the evaporator coils, the blower motor, and some HVAC controls.

Air handlers are usually located in the garage, a closet, or in the attic (unless you have a package unit then the air handler is incorporated in the system). The air handler can be an up flow air handler, down flow air handler, or horizontal flow AHU (air handling unit). To determine which one you have follow the return duct. The return duct should originate where you put the HVAC filter and/or is the biggest register grill in the house. If the return ends in the bottom of the unit it is an up flow air handler. If the return duct ends in the top of the unit it is a down flow air handler. If the unit looks as if it is lying on its side with the return duct coming in one side the supply ducts going out the other it is a horizontal flow air handler.
